Charades

Objective: Charades is a classic fast-paced game, requiring little to no preparation. It's a great game for vocabulary review or to liven up a class.

Instruction

1. Split up the class into two teams (ideally with 8-10 players per team).

2. On strips of paper, write down about 10 vocabulary words that you have previously reviewed with your class or, make up your own list of words. Roll up these strips of paper.

3. Nominate one representative from each team to come up to the front of the class. Pull out one of the rolled up strips of paper and show the students the vocabulary for the game.

4. Next, ask the students to face their teams, with their backs turned against each other. Without talking, each representative tries to act out the vocabulary for their teammates to guess. They are given a strict time limit of 60 seconds. Team members who correctly guess the right vocabulary word wins the round and earns a point, the team with the highest point wins the game.
