Unit 2: Reading Comprehension

Classical music is very different to pop music in that it is usually performed by a large group of musicans rather than by a band. Classical music is usually played inside a concert hall, and the audience are usually dressed in a formal or semi-formal manner. There is always a conductor who comes onto the stage to lead the orchestra. An announcer begins by introducing the conductor who takes a bow to acknowledge the audience. Afterwards the other members of the orchestra - the pianist, violinists, cellists and so on - are all introduced. One by one they all take turns and bow to the audience. The concert usually begins..
