looking for a needle in a haystack
If you are trying hard to find something, and you are having a lot of difficulty finding it, it compared to looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thomas tried to look for his lost keys at the park, but he wasn't able to find it. The park was so big that it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.
There is a road that leads from the city into the countryside that I drive down every weekend to visit my parents. My parents moved away from the city to retire in the countryside several years ago. You have to drive through some protected land area known as a National Park. Here wildlife is protected and can move around safely. I sometimes stop in the national parks to admire the views or to eat my lunch. Afterwards, I continue driving until I reach my parents farm. Countryside living is relaxed, peaceful and quiet. The air is unpolluted, the pace of life is slower than the city and people living in small towns and villages are friendly and helpful. My parents grow fresh fruits and different crops in their small farm. The neighbours have chickens and ducks wondering around the farm, while the sheep and other farm animals graze in the open fields. Countryside living is not for everyone. It's quite remote and it can take a while to drive to the nearest town. In the future, I hope to own a farm of my own when I retire.
