Unit 2: Reading Comprehension

Many people like to sunbathe or simply go for a swim at the beach. Some people are happy to sit and watch the waves roll in and out. While others go to the beach to do water sports. The most popular water sports, particularly with young people is surfing. Parents with young kids like to make sandcastles, or swim with their children in shallow waters. The sea can be calm, but it can also get rough and dangerous! Every year thousands of people drown because they don't know how to swim. Sometimes strong currents can carry a person out to sea, and some people find themselves out of their depths, with their feet unable to touch the bottom. When you go to the beach, it's always a good idea to swim where there are lifeguards on duty. If you enjoy walking the cliffs overlooking the beach and sea, make sure you don't near the edge of the cliffs.
